Community Project: International Women's Group

“I really enjoy attending the International Women’s Group because it gives me the chance to meet other women, learn new skills and understand more about what university and Sainsbury Centre can offer. As refugee women, many of us lost the chance to continue our own education, but these sessions help us encourage our daughters to go further, so more women can enter different professional fields and this cycle can be broken.” Participant

An ongoing collaborative project run by the UEA University of Sanctuary in partnership with the Sainsbury Centre. The project involves bi-weekly sessions, at the Sainsbury Centre, which focus on creating a safe, welcoming and supportive space for women from international and sanctuary backgrounds.

The sessions includes activities that promote confidence, wellbeing and social connection. Activities range from photography, sewing and painting to exploring the campus and art collections at the Sainsbury Centre.
