UEA has been a proud member of CARA since 2019. CARA provides urgently-needed help to academics in immediate danger, those forced into exile, and many who choose to work on in their home countries despite serious risks. CARA also supports higher education institutions whose work is at risk or compromised.
Through CARA, UEA will aim to host placements for its at-risk academic members. The placement may be a short-term research/business visits or longer term postdoctoral study/PhD research degrees. Each placement agreed with CARA is bespoke and based on the needs of the applicant, but in general CARA and the UEA aim to cover costs of flights and transfers, accommodation, living allowance, expenditure, and where applicable provide an exemption on course fees.
